⁷ “But ask the animals, and they will teach you,^(A)
    or the birds in the sky,^(B) and they will tell you;^(C)

⁸ or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
    or let the fish in the sea inform you.

⁸ The animals take cover;^(A)
    they remain in their dens.^(B)

²⁰ The hills bring it their produce,^(A)
    and all the wild animals play^(B) nearby.^(C)

⁹ The voice of the Lord twists the oaks^[a](A)
    and strips the forests bare.
And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”^(B)

²⁰ You bring darkness,^(A) it becomes night,^(B)
    and all the beasts of the forest^(C) prowl.
²¹ The lions roar for their prey^(D)
    and seek their food from God.^(E)
22 The sun rises, and they steal away;
    they return and lie down in their dens.^(F)
23 Then people go out to their work,^(G)
    to their labor until evening.^(H)

²⁴ How many are your works,^(I) Lord!
    In wisdom you made^(J) them all;
    the earth is full of your creatures.^(K)
25 There is the sea,^(L) vast and spacious,
    teeming with creatures beyond number—
    living things both large and small.^(M)
